DONOR TO COVER 50%
OF ROCK AT THE NORTH TICKET PRICE
An anonymous donor has agreed
to pay 50% of the $15.00 cost of tickets to ROCK AT THE NORTH, if tickets are
purchased at the North Theatre boxoffice on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 from 12 Noon
until 4 PM.
The rock show being held at the North Theatre, 629 North Main
Street in Danville, Virginia is set for Saturday July 1, 2006 at 7:30 PM. The
headliner band from Los Angeles is The Glass Plastiks, whose lead singer/guitarist
Trevor Lissauer is best known for his TV and film career. Lissauer starred as
the quirky roomate "Miles" in the popular sit-com Sabrina The Teenage
Witch and he is rememberd as the star of the cult classic The Skateboard Kid.
Lissauer's music has been widely well reviewed in the West Coast music press,
where the band packs out top rock venues
including The Roxy and the famous
Viper Room, owned by Johnny Depp.
The Strugglers, a band best known in
the North Carolina triangle with Danville born Randy Bickford as lead singer have
just returned from a six country tour of European rock clubs and they are also
headlined in the four band show for the price of a $15.00 ticket.
Joining
this lineup are a local Danville band making its Danville public premiere, called
Rathskeller and the popular Roanoke band, The Young Sinclairs. North Theatre,
artistic director, Jerry Meadors says, "The show will run the gamut from
garage punk to classic rock sounds and some moody soulful rock as the evening
progresses.
"I am really excited about this anonymous gift of half-price
tickets on sale Wednesday only at the North Theatre boxoffice. This will make
it possible for anyone,but especially younger rock fans with limited funds to
attend the show for only $7.50. I think this is great way for an individual to
support the programming at the North Theatre, which is after all a not-for-profit
cultural charity," Meadors stated.
If you can't get to the North
Theatre on Wednesday, June 28 to take advantage of this special half price offer,
tickets are on sale for the regular $15.00 price at the Heartline Restaurant on
Riverside Drive and at The Music Post on Piney Forest Road in Danville and can
be purchased one hour before the 7:30 PM showtime. There is a full bar offered
in the upstairs theatre lobby and a full restuarant, Intermission,open in the
theatre complex from 4 PM to 10 PM, Tuesdays through Sautrdays.For
